FAQ

Q What is a TALON Grip?
A TALON Grips are the only US Patented single piece adhesive style wrap around grips. They are an adhesive backed grip that is about .4 mm. TALON Grips are cut using state of the art technology, and they are designed to go on over the existing manufacturer's grip. These grips will change the interface between the users hand and the platform by increasing the friction while adding little to no bulk.
Q Why Choose TALON Grips?
A TALON Grips was founded out of necessity for a better grip on LE department issued firearms. Creativity, attention to detail, and the constant desire for improvement have been are some of the guiding principles since TALON’s founding. We pride ourselves in making the best adhesive backed grips with unbeatable customer service. For more information on why to choose TALON Grips on our blog talongungrips.com/blog/talon/why-choose-talon-grips/
Q What is the difference between the rubber texture and granulate texture?
A

The granulate texture is often compared to skateboard tape or sandpaper. It helps maintain positive grip on the firearm even when hands are wet, slippery or greasy. Granulate texture is typically preferred in competition shooting or holster carry and provides the best grip enhancement. The granulate texture may be uncomfortable during a concealed carry, but can be made smoother by sanding it with 120 grit sandpaper.

The rubber texture is a textured rubberized material that maintains positive grip on the firearm and is well suited for complete comfort during concealed carry. This also ideal for those with softer hands. Learn More Here

Q Can I place an order over the phone?
A Yes, you can call the TALON Grips office at (970) 879-9600. We are open Monday-Friday from 9-4 MST.
Q Can the granulate texture scratch my firearm?
A

The granulate texture is very aggressive and does consist of tiny particles that can come off. These particles can end up in your holster and contribute to additional wear on the finish of the firearm. This situation is rare, but worthy of noting.

Q I ordered the wrong texture. Can I exchange the grip for the other texture?
A Absolutely. Customer satisfaction is a top priority for TALON Grips. If you need to exchange your grip for whatever reason, please send your unused grip in original condition back to us at: TALON Grips, 2522 Copper Ridge Drive, #B5, Steamboat Springs, CO 80487 along with a note saying what you would like done with the returned grip (exchange for another grip/exchange for another texture/refund) and we will process that request as soon as we see it.
Q I believe I received the incorrect grips. What do I do?
A First of all you can look at the back of the grip and there is a number burned into the paper backing (this will be 2-4 characters). Verify that you received the grip that you ordered by looking at that number vs. the DLo number on your order form. If the numbers match and the firearm listed is correct, then review the instructions as there are two installations (Front Wrap and Rear Wrap). If the number is incorrect or you ordered the incorrect grip email Orders@TALONGrips.com or call 970-879-9600.
Q Can I remove the grips once they are installed? Why didn’t my order go through?
A TALON Grips can be easily peeled off at any time. Any adhesive that remains on the lower frame can easily be removed with rubbing alcohol and a soft cloth. You will not be able to reinstall a grip once it has been removed.
Q When will TALON Grips have a specific grip available?
A

Design of proper grips is an imperative part of the TALON Grips mission. We take a great amount of time on each grip, ensuring proper fit and performance. We will post on Facebook and our website as new grips are designed and become available for sale. Please send emails to GripRequest@TALONGrips.com of firearms you are interested in seeing a grip for. We use these requests to prioritize the next design.

Q How do I install the grip?
A All of our orders include instructions for both the front wrap and rear wrap installation. Instructions and videos are also available here on our website at TALONGunGrips.com/TALON How To
Q Does the adhesive affect the firearms original grip?
A If you need to remove your TALON Grip from your firearm, most of the adhesive will come off with the grip. For the small amount of adhesive that may remain on the grip, rubbing alcohol will remove it.
Q How long do TALON Grips last?
A We guarantee that our grips will last 90 days. If the instructions are followed correctly, these grips can last years (depending upon installation, use, storage, etc).
Q Where can I buy TALON Grips?
A You can buy them direct from our website. There are also other online dealers as well as our ever growing Dealer Network. To find if there is a dealer near you, go to our Dealer Locator here. If you are interested in becoming a dealer please visit our Dealer Inquires page at TALONGunGrips.com/Dealer-Inquires
Q Will cleaning my firearm harm the Grips?
A Certain cleaners will attack the adhesive of the TALON Grips so you should avoid aerosol cleaners like Brake Cleaner, Break-Free, Birchwood Casey Gun Scrubber, etc.
Q Why didn’t my order go through?
A

Most often, when a credit card order does not go through, it is because the billing address entered on the order does not match the address on file for your credit card. For the protection of our customers and ourselves, we do not have access to the credit card information you entered. If your order did not go through, you may call our customer service and we will gladly adjust the information. We will need your card number when processing the order. You may also resubmit the order with the corrected information.

Q Will TALON Grips work with my Crimson Trace?
A Most of the time the answer is yes. The TALON Grips are less than .5 mm thick, and so in most cases, they can be installed first and the Crimson Trace laser will fit over the grip. The M&P line is slightly different, and you can either cut off the backstrap portion of the grip or order the M&P Pro grip pre cut. Learn More Here.
Q Will TALON Grips work with my Grip Force Adapters?
A Answer provided from TG customer: I used the larger ribbed adapter on my G19 and the smaller non-ribbed adapter on my G26. They will fit over the Talon Grips. If you look closely at the G26 you will see that the Grip Force adapter on the G26 doesn't fit quite as well as the Gen4 backstraps. I am going to experiment with the Grip Force Adapter on the G26 to see if I like it. If I don't like it, I will pull the adapter off and just run the Talon Grips. I found that if I put the grip pin most of the way through I could hook it around the pin on one side and then further extend it on the far side to make it go on. I thought you would like to see what is possible. The Grip Force Adapters are not listed as Gen 4 compatible. You can be the judge of what the final outcome is. The Glockstore part # is TO966 BK (black). I haven't fired the G26 with the Talon Grips and Grip Force Adapter yet. (Pictures available by request)
